About the Item
Green Prehnite cabochon ring in grey titanium with a sculptural layered MXHM design and a luminous natural gemstone.
Inspired by the sculptural cabochon aesthetics of René Sim Lacaze — maternal grandfather of Maximilian Hemmerle and former head designer of Van Cleef and Arpels — this MXHM ring translates his characteristic play of volume and gemstone luminosity into a contemporary titanium composition. Crafted in grey treated titanium with a soft matte finish, the piece features layered, architectural contours that frame the natural 9 × 12 mm green prehnite cabochon.
Maximilian selected this rare prehnite from a lot of unusually clear and luminous stones sourced many years ago. Unlike the more common pale or cloudy varieties, this gemstone displays exceptional inner brightness and a serene, meditative color. Prehnite, a calcium-aluminium silicate named after its discoverer Colonel Hendrik von Prehn, is traditionally regarded as a stone of intuition, calm and unconditional acceptance. Long valued as a meditation and healing stone, its gentle translucency is believed to promote clarity, emotional balance and a serene, centering energy. The smooth cabochon polish enhances the mineral’s natural glow, creating a gentle but striking contrast with the tactile titanium structure.
The result is a modern collectible that feels sculptural, organic and quietly powerful — a perfect expression of the MXHM titanium line.
DESIGNER
MXHM is led by Maximilian Hemmerle, who unites two distinguished artistic lineages. Maternally, he carries the Parisian design heritage of René Sim Lacaze, the creative mind behind iconic Van Cleef and Arpels pieces whose sculptural forms and refined proportions continue to shape MXHM’s contemporary designs. Paternally, Maximilian descends from a long line of master jewelers who served as royal court suppliers to the Bavarian monarchy. This dual heritage — Parisian elegance and Bavarian craftsmanship — forms the foundation of MXHM and informs the precision, material excellence and artistic ambition of every piece.
