About the Item
Bold and architectural, this modernist sterling silver and certified natural and untreated nephrite jade ring was created in the 1960s or early 1970s, most likely in Denmark.
The gleaming silver mounting is a work of art in itself. But the focal point of this ring is the rectangular-cut nephrite jade stone, which in color and texture is consistent with jade from Russia; otherwise known as "Siberian jade."
The jade measures 17.79mm x 8.08mm x 7.78mm and is highly-translucent. The distinctive yellowish-green tone flecked with black is a hallmark of Siberian jade.
There are unidentified maker's marks on the interior of the band and it is marked for metal fineness. I believe it is Danish in origin.
The ring is currently a size 9 ¾ and could be resized by your local jeweler.
Please note: although I see no glue, it's impossible that the jade has not been glued into the mounting because the mounting merely creates a "slot" perfectly size to accommodate the stone but there is no tension or prongs to hold the stone in place. Therefore, I would avoid wearing this ring while swimming or engaging in activity where the stone could be lost.
