About the Item

A bold cocktail ring with turquoise designed by Katy Briscoe. This is a massive and bold cocktail ring created by the American designer Katy Briscoe, back in the 1990's. The ring is a one-of-a-kind piece, masterfully crafted in solid yellow gold of 18 karats with highly textured finish. This ring is an early work by Katy and is embellished on top with one natural native American blue-green turquoise from Arizona, which is accented-flanked by two translucent rock quartzes. Katy Briscoe Katy Briscoe began her career in the jewelry industry in 1980 working part-time for a Fort Worth mom-and-pop shop while studying at Texas Christian University for a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts degree in advertising illustration and design. For several years following, Katy worked in the jewelry department of a major department store and then entered the world of high-dollar jewelry sales upon being hired by the internationally renowned Fred Joaillier of Paris. With her love and extensive knowledge of the industry, she became one of Fred’s top-producers and was groomed for an assistant directorship -the youngest and only female in that position at the time-. After her success at Fred Paris, Katy was approached by a representative of David Webb of New York in 1985, where she furthered her knowledge of fine jewelry and gained insight into the preferences of the world's wealthiest clients. Five years later Katy realized that she really wanted to create her own designs and left to establish her first home-based atelier called “Chinati the Jeweler”. Grasping the fundamentals of the jewelry business was a rite of passage neither glamorous nor romantic, but with hard work and an unerring determination she set up her own full-service jewelry company in June of 1994. Katy quickly became a Houston favorite, with loyal customers who fell in love with the look and feel of her jewelry. It's no surprise they did: highly-skilled craftsmen hand-make every piece, and each stone is carefully hand chosen by the designer. Turquoise: Mounted in the center in a bezel setting, with 1 oval cabochon cut (24 x 17 x 5 mm) of a natural Arizona blue-green turquoise, with a weight of about 14.50 carats. Rock Quartz: Mounted at the sides in bezel settings, with 2 matching semi-oval faceted cuts of natural rock quartzes with a combined weight of about 4 carats. Birthstone: Turquoise for the month of December. Weight: 33.90 Grams, (21.75 Dwt). Size: The actual size is 8.5 and may be easily re-sized up or down on special request. Measurements: 28 mm by 26 mm (1.10 x 1.02 Inches) and raise 12 mm over the finger. Hallmarks: Stamped with the maker's mark logo, the mark for the assay and warranty of the .750/.999 yellow gold and signed as follow: "©KATY BRISCOE 18KT". Collateral: This cocktail ring by Katy Briscoe is accompanied by a presentation jewelry box. Condition: The overall condition of this cocktail ring by Katy Briscoe is excellent. Beside the little normal wear there is no damage to the gold. The 3 gemstones are secured in the settings. This ring was carefully inspected to guarantee the condition and authenticity.
