A rich green emerald perches atop more than one carat of brilliant, fiery diamonds in this delightfully luxurious cocktail ring. The lozenge shape and full-finger coverage is reminiscent of the glamour of mid-century cocktail parties and the freer fashions and social roles women claimed for themselves during the Roaring Twenties.
Known as “The Jewel of Kings,” emerald gemstones have consistently been one of the most valuable gemstones with a storied association with royalty. Cleopatra, for example, was known to wear emeralds not only to enhance her beauty, but also as a savvy display of wealth and the riches of Egypt. The ancient scholar Pliny wrote in praise of emerald, their vibrant green color representative of a beautiful and hopeful spring.
