About the Item
This is an absolutely magnificent antique Citrine Ring with Ruby and Diamond gems creating an extraordinary Butterfly. The ring is an Art Deco - Hollywood Regency Retro ring in 14 Karat Rose Gold. The ring is a testament to the stunning design of the Art Deco -Retro Hollywood Regency period and dates to circa 1930-1940. The wings of the butterfly are four fancy cut pyramidal citrine gems.
The cut of these citrines is absolutely extraordinary and the color is the absolute finest. The citrines are prong set allowing the shimmering edges of the gems to reflect the utmost light and create the diaphanous effect of the butterfly wings. They are spectacular. The eyes and body of the butterfly are comprised of eight absolutely gorgeous round faceted rubies. The rubies have a stunning red color and are elegant radiant gems. The tail of the butterfly is set with ten sparkling white diamonds. The body and tail of the butterfly are set in a swirling design that evokes the natural forms of nature. The fabulous wings are set at varying angles to further evoke the flying butterfly. The gems are set in 14 Karat Rose Gold as was the custom of the period. The combination of the spectacular citrines set in rose gold with the white diamonds and red rubies is absolutely wonderful. This is Art Deco Retro design at its peak and the ring is a perfect piece of wearable art. Insect inspired jewels are all the rage today and the butterfly is one of the finest we have seen. It is very rare to find Retro insect animal jewels. Let the dazzling butterfly alight upon your finger as it brings an abundance of light and joy.
The butterfly is 1 inch (26mm) wide from East to West and is 22mm tall from North to South. The top of the ring sits 15mm above the finger.
The ring is currently a size 6.25 US (M UK) and can be easily resized if desired.
