However, when you see a ring, in reality, the details register all at once and render you speechless. This exquisite Contemporary Colombian Emerald Diamond Halo Cocktail Engagement Ring, made by Spectra Fine Jewelry in the 21st century, circa 2020, comprises sizeable and sparkling gemstones of the utmost quality, presented in a composition that exalts them to new heights. The ring is crafted in 18K white gold and features a cushion shape faceted green emerald with an estimated weight of 23.51 carats. The emerald is accompanied by a report from Gübelin stating that it is a natural beryl-type emerald of Colombian origin with minor clarity enhancement.
Natural emeralds are commonly clarity-enhanced, and emerald inclusions are tolerated and even valued by some collectors as unique features of each particular stone. This emerald is bright and transparent—a lovely example of a Colombian emerald, which is generally said to have a warmer and more intense pure green color due to trace amounts of chromium. The unique hue stands out, as does its low saturation. A Colombian emerald of this impressive near-35-carat size is highly prized, with weights over 20 carats reserved for prestigious jewelry. The price of emeralds can rise dramatically as the altitude increases. The cushion shape modified brilliantly is strong at showcasing emerald size, sparkle, and color. This beautifully proportioned square emerald with rounded corners and equally impressive depth measures approximately 18.11 x 18.10 x 12.39 mm and is held with four sets of double talon prongs and surrounded by a textured and sparkling halo comprised of multiple cuts and elevations that further highlight the significant facets of the center stone. The artful halo shall consist of ten oval diamonds, each held with four talon prongs, and alternate with smaller pairs of round brilliant-cut diamonds pavé-set in white gold channels, with an estimated total weight of 3.90 carats. These ten groupings of round diamond pairs spill over the sides of the halo-like individual waterfalls, with graduated pavé diamonds continuing partway down the band and in openwork stripes along the emerald's sides down to the mounting's flower-shaped base. The emerald sits so high on the finger with all the grandeur that the mounting provides. The ring is spectacular from all angles and would be as unique as an engagement or cocktail ring.
