About the Item
This precious green emerald, weighing 2.18 carats is the rich center of attention in this Belle Époque meets Art Deco-style 18kt white gold and diamond shield ring created by Spectra Fine Jewelry in 2020. The ring beautifully demonstrates modern techniques with vintage styling. The featured emerald is emerald cut and of Colombian origin, which is the leading producer of superior quality emerald gemstones the world over. It is set with eight 18kt yellow gold talon prongs, which is the only use of yellow gold in the piece, a lovely subtlety emblematic of Spectra’s fine attention to detail.
The shimmering oval shield, in contrast, is crafted in 18kt white gold and textured with an updated version of milgrain that is more prismatic and modern. Milgrain is a jewelry design technique where small beads or grains of metal of metal are used to create borders. Milgrain is most associated with the Art Deco period -- when it was at the height of its popularity, and named as such, derived from the French mille-grain or a thousand grains. Here, the milgrain texture delivers an additional sparkle that complements the gemstones.
Three concentric ovals radiate out from the center stone to create a lace-like lattice that suggests perhaps a solar system or a celestial clock. The overall look is filigree-like—a form of intricate metalwork in jewelry that was popular in the Edwardian period—but again, more befitting of our Contemporary era: simplified and bold. Counting outwards from the central gemstone are eight, two, and twelve encircling diamonds all bezel-set in 18kt white gold that shimmer with a delicate beauty that is timeless throughout all the ages. The emerald is certified by GRS stating that it's a vivid green, of Colombian origin with insignificant clarity enhancement. Total weight of diamonds 1.80 carats, most with F-G color, VS clarity. 18kt white gold 17.21g, size 6.5, can be re-sized.
