About the Item
Very fine natural cat's eye chrysoberyl with an intense color, white diamond and platinum vintage ring. The center oval stone is a fine natural golden honey/green cat's eye chrysoberyl. Many Cat's Eye Chrysoberyl stones are a diluted color with an almost milky color these stones are plentiful in the market today. Alternatively, this stone is very fine because it is bright with fine intense color.
The stone has a fine depth of color and a fine and distinct cat's eye. It is estimated to weighs 1.67 cts. Accenting this unusual stone are two cuts of fine white diamonds, round brilliant and fancy tapered baguettes. The diamonds, weighing approximately .48 cts., are estimated to be near colorless, H, and very slightly included, VS. The platinum ring is well made with a fine underneath gallery. The weight of the stones are stamped on the interior of the shank.
It is called a cat's eye because of an unusual characteristic, when a light illuminates the gem, a band or slit moves across the stone which looks like a cat's eye. Sometimes it appears as though the eye is opening and closing. This chatoyancy, happens because the light is reflected off parallel needle-like inclusions within the stone.
Cat's eye Chrysoberyl is an ancient stone found as early as the 1st Century B.C. in ancient Rome. It is also a very hard stone making it easy to wear daily.
This ring is in fine condition, a size 6.25 and can be resized.
