About the Item
A fine and impressive antique Victorian white, green and red paste, 15 karat yellow gold cannetille style cocktail ring; part of our diverse antique jewelry collections.
This fine and impressive antique paste ring has been crafted in 15k yellow gold.
The pierced decorated, cannetille style design mount is ornamented with a feature claw / prong set oval cut red paste stone.
The red paste stone is flanked on either side by a round cut white paste stone.
Eight individually claw / prong set round cut green paste stones embellish the bead decorated frame to complete the design.
The flared ring shoulders are accented with an engraved decoration which continues around the outer surface of the shank.
The ring is hallmarked to the interior of the shank with the 15k gold fineness mark (15.625), the Birmingham Assay Office hallmark (anchor) and the date letter for 1873 (Y).
This Victorian cocktail ring is supplied with an independent diamond grading report card.
NOTE*:
During the Victorian Era, non-precious pastes were a part of evening jewelry sets. They were also used in pieces intended to convey coded messages of romance, based on the colors of the pastes. Such crystals, which were made of high-lead-content glass and had a permanent foil backing, gave the illusion of almost any gemstone, including diamonds, rubies, sapphires, emeralds and amethysts.

Condition
This effective original antique paste ring is fine quality set with white, green and red paste stones. The ring is a very good gauge of gold and is in excellent condition with very clear full English hallmarks.
