About the Item
A mid nineteenth century emerald, ruby, diamond and bouton pearl ring, comprising a claw-set emerald quatrefoil surmounting three bouton pearls in a horizontal row and with a similar claw-set ruby quatrefoil below, all mounted in vertical alignment between triple way split rose diamond set shoulders and a rose gold shank, circa 1860, finger size P, gross weight 5.3 grams.
This Victorian ring is in very good condition . Slight abrasion to one emerald consistent with age. Unmarked tested as 14ct gold and silver.
This fabulously colourful and characterful ring comes from the collection of Bentley
Skinner, Jewellers by Royal Appointment to His Majesty King Charles III. This ring features a single band that splits out into three bands, the top with a ruby cluster, the middle with three pearls, and the bottom with a cluster of emeralds. The rubies are a lovely vivid crimson, and the emeralds are a bright crème de menthe shade, both complementing the creamy central pearls. All three bands are studded with lively rose-cut diamonds. Similar colourful rings can be seen in portraits by Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres in the mid nineteenth century.
