About the Item
A vintage Old European brilliant-cut diamond spiraled bombe cocktail ring in platinum, Portuguese, 1950s. This mid-20th century ring of a bombe design features an Old European brilliant-cut diamond eight claw-set to the center and is further embellished with eight spiral motifs issuing from each claw, grain-set with 92 single-cut diamonds.
Main Diamond: Old European brilliant-cut; approximately 2.60 carats (average diameter 8.78 mm, height 5.35mm); I/J color (assessed); SI2 clarity (assessed). Remaining Diamonds: approximately 1 carat in total. Maker’s mark “R” for Lisbon (Portugal) jeweler Raul Mendonça (reg. 1916 and transferred to Raul Mendonça
Filho, Lda in 1951). Tested as platinum 500/1000, not hallmarked. Finger size: 54 (EU), but it can be sized up or down. Gross weight: 17.3g.
