About the Item
A vintage Italian Repossi aquamarine, diamond and gold dress ring, with a scissor-cut aquamarine, weighing approximately 35.00 carats, in a white gold four claw setting, with a trilliant-cut diamond set in the shoulders, surrounded by round brilliant-cut diamonds, in pavé settings, onto a wide, 18ct yellow gold shank, marked REPOSSI, with an Italian mark 2563AL and a 750 in lozenge fineness mark.
The original House of Repossi was founded in Torino, Italy, in the 1920. The first flagship store opened in 1950, led by Costantino Repossi, the son of the founder. It was a family business, passing from father to son, until Alberto Repossi became creative director, in 1974. He specialised in precious stones and was influenced by ancient civilisations and Indian traditional jewellery. He opened his first Monte Carlo flagship store in 1979, followed by the Paris store in 1986. The company became a well-known brand, in Italy and internationally, during the 1980s. In 1994, the house became official purveyor of H.R.H the Prince Rainier III of Monaco. Alberto Repossi became president of the brand. He resigned after 41 years in the business. Repossi passed to Alberto's daughter, Gaia, who was born in Turin in 1986. She started work with the company in 2007, when she was just 21 years old. She took over as creative director in 2017. In 2015 the LVMH Group took a minority stake in Repossi, in 2019 they took over the majority of the Repossi Group going on to take full control in 2022. Alberto Repossi went on to create "The Precious Stones Sicav PLC", a Maltes and European regulated open ended investment company.
