About the Item
A vintage moonstone and diamond 18 karat yellow gold cluster ring.
The centre cabochon cut moonstone is surrounded by a cluster of 11 claw set old mine cut diamonds of 1.10 carats approximately, assessed as G-H colour, VS2 clarity leading to knife edge shoulders and a band of plain polished yellow gold.
A striking ring to enhance everyday or evening wear!
The ring is currently a UK finger size P 1/2, USA size 8 this can be resized for a perfect fit.
Moonstone is a gemstone that exhibits a schiller effect - a shimmer that moves as the stone is moved, this ring is a remarkable piece that shows off these particular properties to great effect!
Moonstone was believed by the Ancient Romans to be made up of the rays of the moon and it was particularly in vogue during both the Victorian and Art Nouveau periods. Most notably being used frequently by the French glass and jewellery artist, René Lalique.
Condition Overall the condition of the ring is very good, with some slight abrasions to the surface of the gold in keeping with its general age.
The ring is accompanied by a complimentary valuation for insurance.
