About the Item

A striking “Lamellae” ring in blackened, rhodium-plated sterling silver with brilliant-cut black diamonds, designed by Zaha Hadid for Georg Jensen in 2016. The Lamellae rings were among Hadid’s final designs, showcasing her ability to transform architectural concepts into wearable art. Measuring 1.625” in length by 1.5” in width, this bold size 9 ring can be easily resized and is gender neutral. The piece is signed © Zaha Hadid, Georg Jensen, and 925S 56. Inspired by her fascination with fluid, organic forms and layered structures, these rings exude movement and lightness despite their robust construction. They are also a testament to the power of collaboration between two giants in their respective fields and to Hadid's enduring impact on architecture and the jewelry design she loved. Zaha Hadid, an influential figure in late-20th and early-21st-century architecture, redefined the field with her abstract paintings and topographical studies that challenged traditional architectural drawing methods. Known for iconic structures like the London Aquatics Centre and the MAXXI Museum, she was the first woman to receive the Pritzker Architecture Prize in 2004 and the Royal Gold Medal from the Royal Institute of British Architects in 2015. In a collaboration with Georg Jensen before her 2016 passing, she designed the collection of architecture-inspired jewelry in sterling silver and black rhodium-plated sterling silver with black diamonds. Hadid’s innovative vision, merging nature-inspired architecture with wearables, complemented Jensen’s dedication to natural design, resulting in a distinctive collection bridging architecture and wearable art.
