About the Item

Geometric ring designed by Dinh Van for Cartier. This is a very rare ring, created back in the late 1960's by the artist jeweler Jean Dinh Van for the jewelry house of Cartier. The sculptural geometric ring has been crafted in solid white gold of 18 karats with high polished finish. The fabulous design is made up by two pieces which are holding on top one perfect cube carved from black onyx. History This ring it belongs to the period of 1969 and 1970. In 1969, Michael Thomas became president of the New York City branch and was instrumental in hiring young designers who modernized the company’s lines such Cesar, Aldo Cipullo, Jean Dinh Van, Roger Lucas, Jean Mahie, and Lisa Sotilis. On October 03,1969, Cartier launched a collection of about 200 jewelry pieces entitled, Astrological, Underwater and Geometric, all designed by these young designers. We are sure this unique ring could be part of the pieces exhibited in that event. Weight: 7.95 Grams, (5.10 Dwt). Size: 9 and may be easily sized up or down on special request. Measurements: 23 mm by 10 mm (0.79 x 0.79 Inches) and raise 12 mm over the finger Hallmarks: Stamped with the maker's mark, the designer's name and signed in full as follow, "©CARTIER 18KT DINH VAN". Jean Dinh Van He was a French designer, that was born in 1927 from a French-Vietnamese family. His successful career started behind the workbench at the French jewelry house of Cartier in 1946 and then work for Pierre Cardin. In 1972 he started his own company and the followed years his revolutionary designs and style caught on quickly and launched him to the forefront of the jewelry and fashion world. All his designs are very geometric and modern, both, his original vintage pieces created for Cartier and the contemporary creations are highly collectible. Dinh Van pieces are very fashionable, sophisticate and easy to wear, also can be displayed as a small toy, sculptures and "Objects du Vertu". Collateral: This cartier ring is accompanied by a presentation jewelry box. Condition: The overall condition of this Cartier ring by Dinh Van is excellent. Beside the little normal wear, there is no damage to the gold. The onyx is secured in the setting. This ring has been carefully inspected to guarantee the condition and authenticity.
