About the Item
This one-of-a-kind ring was handcrafted in Paris, inspired by traditional techniques used in fine jewelry at the turn of the 20th century. The design follows a historical method where the shank - the band of the ring — is made of solid 18K yellow gold, while the stone setting is crafted in silver. This silver top is then patinated in black, a technique once favored by master jewelers of the Belle Époque and Art Nouveau periods.
Why this approach? The darkened silver creates a powerful contrast that enhances the brilliance of the stones. In this piece, that effect is taken a step further - instead of traditional white diamonds, it features hand-selected anthracite diamonds, known for their stormy grey tones and metallic gleam. These stones shimmer with a unique, steel-like fire that pairs beautifully with the mysterious depth of the central gem: a natural black opal from Australia, 0.88 carats, full of electric blues, reds, and golds.
The setting, with its claw-like black silver prongs, offers a moody, almost celestial frame for the opal - like lightning frozen in metal. The combination of warm gold, darkened silver, and rare stones creates a dramatic interplay of color and light.
