About the Item
A magnificent 18 karat gold and platinum old cut diamond bow ring. The ring dates from the 1930's and is set with beautiful clear old cut diamonds in a platinum bow frame. The main frame of the ring is created in 18 karat yellow gold. Its shoulders have narrow open notches, while the front has an open angular structure. The diamonds - which are set in the platinum bow - are surrounded in a mille grain square setting. On both sides of the center stone, six smaller diamonds are studded on each side.
The bow ring was traditionally seen as a symbol of love and marriage. The bow motif first appeared in jewelry in the 17th century French royal court of Louis XIV, when gold or silver was delicately shaped into loose double bows covered with gemstones and attached to necklaces, brooches and rings.
The ring is in very good condition and of high quality. Marked and tested as 18 karat gold and platinum.
