About the Item
This is an absolutely stunning Diamond Sapphire Platinum Antique Art Deco - Victorian Wedding Engagement Ring. The rectangular panel design Platinum setting is gorgeous with exquisite open work, milgrain beaded borders, and set throughout with Diamonds. In the center of the ring is an approximately 3/4 Carat Old Mine Cut Diamond of superb white color and fire! The diamond is G-H color. On either side of the diamond are two natural mined Blue Sapphires of vivid color and totaling approximately 1.1 Carats. The radiant blue of the sapphires with the sparkling white 3/4 Carat diamond and the surrounding diamonds in the platinum setting create a period jewel of the highest quality. The diamonds, open work and engraving continue down the shank of the ring. The ring dates to the Victorian to Art Deco period, circa 1890-1920.
Provenance: The ring is from the estate of a prominent Washington, DC philanthropist.
