About the Item
This Art Deco, circa 1920-1930, platinum and diamond engagement ring features a gorgeous 1.25 carat center old European-cut (OEC) diamond with VS1 clarity grade and G - H color grade. The geometric split shank adds a unique architectural element to the Art Deco ring and is accented with 0.10 carat total weight of single-cut diamonds that are G - H color grade and VS1 - VS2 clarity grade. The split shank tapers into a soft knife-edge style band for pure 1920s elegance. Old European-cut diamonds are cut in a style developed in Europe and popular from 1890 to 1930 and are considered rare when found in a higher color such as G - H; they come from a time when every gemstone was cut by hand.
The diamond measures 6.9mm in diameter, giving lots of finger coverage, and the band tapers from 4.88mm at the shoulders to 1.03mm at the back. While you may often see diamonds of this size sit high off the finger, this one is set low at only a 5.29mm rise off the finger, which allows for a more comfortable fit that is less likely to catch on things during daily wear. The ring is a US finger size 5 and is sizeable, though this is not a service that we offer.
