This Art Deco Platinum Sapphire solitaire features an unusual Natural Lavender colored 1.71 carat Sapphire at 7.2mm in diameter, secured in 4 triangular Platinum prongs, creating the optical illusion of a Square solitaire. Accented with finely detailed incredibly precise Hand Engraving with focused detail at each side in place of accent stones. This Solitaire makes a great focal ring to be worn with stack-able bands as well. Rare to see an iridescent Cabochon cut stone in a ring from this era, as most contained a faceted stone, traditionally with a central Diamond in this time period, as opposed to a Sapphire in this one. This particular Sapphire possesses an iridescence similar to a Moonstone, with minimal internal inclusions slight indication of Striation near one prong (inclusions coming up to surface) - simply a characteristic of naturally earth-mined Sapphires. Prized since 800 B.C., Sapphires have been quite favored in terms of Engagement Gemstones as an alternative to the traditional Diamond. Within the next twenty-five years, approximately 75% of Sapphires on the market will be man-made/lab-created, whereas 50% are currently.
