A platinum and diamond ring, comprising one round transitional cut diamond, and six rose cut diamonds, set in platinum, to a platinum band.
This show-stopping ring is striking in its design. Set to the centre is a large, transitional cut diamond. Transitional cut diamonds came to the fore in the early 1900s and were the precursor to the modern round brilliant cut diamonds of today, with the advent of better diamond cutting equipment, diamonds with better symmetry and more facets could be cut. The diamond is held aloft in a cathedral setting, high above the band of the ring to allow the maximum of light to filter through and create sparkle. The diamond is bright, white, and supremely sparkly. Elegant, geometric motifs surround the basket the diamond rests in, a beautiful example of Art Deco craftsmanship. The shoulders are each set with 3 single cut diamonds, surrounded by millegrain detailing. The diamond studded shoulders lead to a plain, polished band of platinum. A beautiful example of Art Deco design and skill. The ring is in great condition. There is an inclusion visible to one side of the principal diamond. Wear and tear acquiescent with age.
The head of the ring measures 8mm high and 8mm wide. The ring sits 7mm high off the finger. The band measures just under 2mm wide at the back.
