Behold the natural beauty of a fine, certified Basra pearl from the Persian Gulf securely set within six prongs in this buttery, 18K solid yellow gold Victorian style ring. The ring dates to approximately 2010 and has never been worn. But the gold has darkened over time, become richer and even more golden. It's the perfect complement to the breathtaking pinkish-silver pearl caught wild in the Persian Gulf. This is not a cultured pearl, nor is it color enhanced in any way. This is a 100% natural Basra pearl, certified by the foremost pearl certification laboratory in the world. The precious pearl measures 8.09mm x 6.90mm x 6.04mm. That's the size of a 3 ½ carat diamond. So this is no little seed pearl. It's an impressive pearl in a classic setting. If you are searching for an engagement ring that's truly special and unique: here you are. The natural Basra pearl is infinitely rarer than the diamond. And unlike cultured round Akoya pearls, no two Basra pearls are exactly alike. And if you're worried about wearing a pearl as an engagement ring? Don't. I own natural pearls that are well over 100-years-old and look today as beautiful as the day they were pulled from the sea. Pearls became fragile when pearls became cultured. That thin layer of nacre can wear away and leave a bald spot. But never with a natural pearl because a natural pearl is all solid nacre. Before the discovery of diamonds, pearls were the most revered gemstones on earth. You can see evidence of this for yourself by looking at paintings of all the old European monarchs —both kings and queens— draped in ropes of pearls; adorned with gowns beaded with pearls, and wearing magnificent pearl necklaces and rings. It's almost like a color-change gem; the way the surface of the pearl looks vivid pink one minute and then blue with the movement of the hand. It's endlessly fascinating and beautiful.
