About the Item
An enormous, spectacular four-carat cabochon-cut vivid pinkish-red no-heat Burma ruby commands attention in this extraordinary platinum Mid-century ring. The stoplight-red ruby measures 10.33mm x 8.74mm x 4.84mm and weighs 4.75 carats. Three sleek tapered baguette diamonds and a pair of round brilliants compliment the ruby on either side. Together the diamonds weigh approximately .25 carats. The diamonds are bright white (F/G) and near-flawless (VS1).
This exceedingly rare and important stone came to me in a different and unfortunate setting, and I felt there was room for improvement. It took a year, but I finally found the perfect vintage mounting: handmade in platinum. The detailing is spectacular. The undercarriage of the ring is rather ornate and almost Edwardian-inspired, though the mounting was created in the 1960s. The ring rises 11mm from the surface of the finger. The stone could easily be removed and used to create a ring for a man.
Unheated rubies from Burma of this color, clarity, and size are among the rarest gems in the world. Compare, and you will see that the color, size, and quality of this pedigreed gem make it an incredible value as an investment piece that you can actually wear.
Currently a size 6, this ring could be resized by your local jeweler. It ships with a certificate from Stone Group Labs stating its origin is Burma (Myanmar) and it is un-heated.
