About the Item
A remarkable 7.40 carat, transparent blue, oval-shaped natural sapphire showing no evidence of enhancement. This is wrapped within a scalloped border of transitional cut diamonds, which also cascade down the shoulers of the ring.
This stunning sapphire is hand-set within four, 18 carat yellow gold claws, and the balance of the ring is comprised of platinum. This was typical of the 1940s era, as the platinum allowed the diamonds to truly shine through. The transitional cuts have a total carat weight of 2.40 and have an estimated grading of G/VS2. The ring's original vintage setting has a dramatic openwork gallery and subtle millegrain details.
