About the Item
Ceylon sapphire and diamond coronet cluster. Centrally set with an oval old cut natural unenhanced Ceylon sapphire in an open back claw setting with a weight of 3.87 carats, encircled by fourteen graduating cushion shape old mine diamonds in open back claw and grain settings with a combined approximate weight of 0.70 carats, to an impressive cluster design with curving claws, an intricately pierced gallery and fancy open backholing, the slightly tapering shoulders flowing through to a solid D-shape shank. Tested yellow gold, circa 1900, accompanied by Swiss Gemmological Institute (SSEF) report #142162.
