About the Item
A wonderful gold mourning ring from the late Georgian (ca1812) era! This lovely ring is crafted in 10k gold, and features a central glass locket window. Held behind the glass locket window is a lock of intricately-braided hair from the Georgian era. The window is surrounded by a halo of faceted onyx stones, which are all held within bead-settings, and wonderfully complement the yellow gold setting. The remainder of the band is smooth and simple, and features two thin engraved lines, which carry around the entire band. The inside of the piece features an original engraving which reads: "Rianon Gray Ob '22 Dec 1812" and "AE 55". This stunning Georgian ring is an outstanding example of the mourning jewelry tradition, and would make a wonderful addition to any antique collection!
Measurements: The ring has a finger size 8.25, but could possibly be resized slightly. The face of the ring measures just under 3/4" wide and 1/2" tall.
Condition: The overall condition of the ring is excellent. Besides normal surface wear and an old repair to one of the shoulders, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting. All of the natural pearls are securely set, and the glass window is intact.
