Incredibly rare deep fancy pink GIA certified Argyle cushion cut diamond. Ring designs are shown for inspiration purposes only. Natural fancy pink diamonds are among the rarest colored diamonds in existence and are coveted by collectors and jewelers alike. Fueling the craze for natural fancy pink diamonds is the realization that within the next two years 90% of the world's annual mine supply is stated to go off line. At current levels, the entire annual mine supply for pink diamonds will fit in a champagne glass. Given the popularity and demand, prices are expected to continue to steadily rise. Prices range from $160,000 to $500,000 per carat. Extraordinary pink diamonds like the 'Unique Pink' diamond auctioned at Sotheby's Geneva in May 2016 brought in over 2,000,000 per carat. Fancy deep pink diamonds like this are difficult to locate and are often presented at either auction, or extremely high end retail. Videos available upon request. Pink diamonds are running out. Rio Tinto recently committed $1 billion to expanding the Argyle mine, shifting to more expensive underground mining, but even this has only extended its life until 2020. After that, the supply of Argyle pinks will cease. Given that pinks already enjoy a high appreciation rate of around 20 percent a year, it has to be assumed that the sky may well be the limit once the Argyle mine closes.
