Simply put - the finest of its kind. A perfect, and perfectly unique and stunning, vintage diamond dating from the early-twentieth century. A 'D' color - 'Internally Flawless' early square emerald-cut Golconda Diamond, weighing 2.84 carats. According to The Gemological Institute of America - "... the 2.84 carat cut-cornered square mixed cut diamond described in GIA Diamond Grading Report #17178294 has been determined to be a type IIa diamond. Type IIa diamonds are the most chemically pure type of diamond and often have exceptional optical transparency. Type IIa diamonds were first identified as originating from India (particularly from the Golconda region)... Type II diamonds contain little if any nitrogen and they are subdivided into two groups (IIa and IIb) both of which are quite rare (less than 2% of all gem diamonds)." This astonishingly beautiful rarity originally came to us in its original Edwardian diamond ring (pictured) that unfortunately, after a century or so, wore out beyond salvation. In it's place, however, we have an improvement. We commissioned one of our finest jewelers to recreate an early-Art Deco style setting in platinum, making use of a rare double pair of scissor-cut baguettes which perfectly compliment the Golconda. Also, instead of a bezel setting which we discovered, after the fact, somewhat hindered the crystalline brilliance and icy-white color of the stone, the newly made mounting allows the light to shine in and out unobstructed. Thus, we have a truly remarkable and ravishing ring to last for another century. Sublime! In a finger size 6 1/2. Most rings can be sized up or down one size unless noted and sometimes more.
