About the Item
Here we have a wonderful ring from the world renowned French jeweller Jean Fouquet.
The ring is an impressive 33.3 grams and crafted in a modernist style. The inner band engraved with the inscription “Première et totale année de bonheur, la vie est belle puisque la vie c’est toi mon Xiam adoré 19 Juillet 1929” (“First and total year of happiness; life is beautiful since life is you, my beloved Xiam, 19 July 1929”). Signed Jean Fouquet and numbered. Bearing the French platinum assay mark and the maker’s mark of Fouquet.
Jean Fouquet (1899–1984) was a highly influential French jeweller best known for his role in defining Art Deco and modernist jewellery in the early 20th century.
He was the son of Georges Fouquet, a celebrated Parisian jeweller associated with Art Nouveau, but Jean decisively moved the family firm toward a radically modern aesthetic. Taking over Maison Fouquet in the 1920s, he embraced clean lines, architectural forms, and restrained elegance that aligned with the emerging modernist movement.
This ring is a perfect example of his work and it is rare for a piece to come available for sale.
Condition: Used (Very Good) - The ring has small scratches that could be removed with a polish but we believe the patina is perfect as it is.
