About the Item
This vintage toi et moi ring is a striking mid-century jewel pairing two of the most coveted gemstones in the world: a certified unheated Burma ruby and a brilliant diamond, set in platinum in an elegant, sculptural composition. Dating to approximately 1950, the ring embodies the enduring “toi et moi” (“you and me”) motif, a romantic design tradition symbolizing the union of two distinct yet perfectly balanced stones.
One side is set with a vivid round Burma (Myanmar) ruby weighing approximately 2.37 carats, accompanied by a GIA report confirming natural origin and no indications of heating—an increasingly rare and highly prized quality among fine rubies. Opposite, the ring features a European-cut diamond weighing approximately 1.42 carats, graded E color and I1 clarity, with broad, luminous facets characteristic of mid-century and earlier cutting styles.
The shoulders are channel-set with tapered baguette diamonds totaling approximately 1.00 carat, graded E/F color and VS clarity, adding refined brilliance and architectural structure to the design. Crafted in platinum, the ring has a wonderful sense of balance and presence on the hand, with the two principal stones appearing to float toward one another.
The ring is size 6.25, weighs 8.2 grams, and is accompanied by GIA reports for both the ruby (GIA Report #2221437916) and the diamond (GIA Report #6223975765). In good vintage condition, this is a rare and highly desirable toi et moi ring—combining historical design, exceptional gemstones, and timeless symbolism in one elegant, collector-quality jewel.
