The daintier, but no less striking sibling to the Galaxy Cocktail Ring, this ring is designed in 18k rose and yellow gold, with beautiful opal at its centre. With depths that evoke the expanse of the universe, each opal is unique. The stone is surrounded by gold rings embellished with pavé brown diamonds, blue sapphires, and green tsavorites, while a gold star and moon sits on the rings too, alongside a rose cut diamond and keshi pearl. This ring is available in size 56mm (7.5 US), and can be resized or made to order. Luminous Tahitian pearls, iridescent opals, and 60,000-year-old mammoth tusk all come under the spotlight in the Galaxy Collection. Taking the cosmos as their inspiration, these elegant designs draw on Bibi’s fascination with clouds, stars, and the night sky. Pearls resemble tiny planets in rings and necklaces, while one statement cocktail ring is crafted around an opal that stands out for its swirling, multi-coloured tones, with each opal entirely unique, the stone orbited by pearl planets and diamond stars. Intricacy and movement is also infused into the collection. Take the Mammoth Galaxy Ring, fashioned as a mammoth tusk orb that spins in its 18k yellow gold setting, embellished with sapphires and diamonds. Many of these pieces can be personalised, too. The Mammoth Galaxy Spinning Necklace can be embellished with precious stones and gold accents in your zodiac sign’s constellation, while the Galaxy Opal Shooting Star Ring can be set with a unique combination of pavé stones, to represent children or significant others. The creator of this piece, Bibi van der Velden, believes that jewellery should imbue the wearer with energy, with her pieces offering a playful, personal, and highly artistic take on fine jewellery. This personal touch comes from a jewellery-making process that’s grounded in traditional craftsmanship. Working with sustainable and unexpected materials, among them 60,000-year-old mammoth tusk, ostrich eggs, and scarab wings, Bibi hand-sketches and hand-carves each piece in wax. Bibi describes her jewellery pieces as “miniature sculptures.”
