About the Item
A one of a kind, authentic, ancient Greek silver coin displaying a griffin is set in an ancient-inspired hammered Steven Battelle design in rich 22K gold. The coin is surrounded by a heavy twist wire bezel with 4 large "jawan' granulation. This a rare and seldom seen coin from ancient Caria, Kaunos, 490-370 BC. The Griffin is a legendary creature with the body, tail, and back legs of a lion; the head and wings of an eagle; and sometimes an eagle's talons as its front feet. The lion was traditionally considered the king of the beasts, and the eagle the king of the birds. Since classical antiquity, it was a symbol of divine power and a guardian of the divine. This VERY substantial and unique ring is currently size 7. It is resizable. It is sent with a laminated lifetime coin certificate of authenticity. You definitely won't see this ring repeated anywhere!
