About the Item
A beautifully elegant 10k yellow gold ring featuring a certified untreated omphacite jade cabochon of exceptional color and clarity. Measuring approximately 12.30mm x 11.02mm x 4.83mm, the stone displays a rich, saturated apple-green hue with excellent translucency. Accented on each shoulder by small, bright diamonds, the ring has a refined, modern profile that allows the jade to remain the focal point. It is currently a size 4 and weighs 3 grams.
Omphacite is one of the rarer members of the jade family, a naturally occurring pyroxene mineral whose composition overlaps with that of jadeite. In practice, fine omphacite can look virtually indistinguishable from high-grade jadeite, and for this reason GIA now categorizes all jadeite-bearing rocks under the broader term “Fei Cui.” This umbrella classification includes jadeite, omphacite, and kosmochlor, acknowledging both their mineralogical kinship and their shared use in fine jewelry dating back centuries. True untreated omphacite of this quality is scarce, and its beauty can rival far more expensive jadeite at a fraction of the price.
This ring is an exquisite example, with a pleasing dome, vivid color, and the desirable evenness and glow that collectors seek. It is suitable for daily wear or as a distinctive signature piece in any jade collection.
