Lignes Vertes Ecume Ring by Karl Mazlo

Materials: 18k yellow gold (6.7 g) / Malachite 14.5 ct (2.9 g) / Steel (2.9 g).
With his collection Lignes Vertes, jeweler Karl Mazlo pays tribute to raw malachite, a captivating mineral with deep nuances and delicately drawn veins. Faithful to his creative approach, he chooses to highlight the authenticity and singular character of this stone, without seeking to smooth or alter its natural texture. Each ring in the collection is a unique creation, where the stone and artisanal craftsmanship unite in a subtle harmony. For Karl Mazlo, working with raw malachite is a dialogue with the material, respecting its rough edges and irregularities, which are testimonies of its millennial history. Lignes Vertes explores the fragile balance between nature and craftsmanship, sublimating the richness of the raw while celebrating the elegance of uniqueness.
Karl Mazlo is a Parisian jeweler who founded his research and creation workshop in 2016. A graduate of the École Boulle and trained by renowned master jewelers, he has developed a unique practice where materials and textures take center stage. Passionate about the raw qualities of materials, he seeks to reveal their natural essence by blending tradition and modernity. Through techniques such as hammering, chasing, and engraving, Karl Mazlo sculpts his creations to play with contrasts: roughness and smoothness, matte and glossy finishes, depth and lightness. Each piece becomes a sculptural work where textures amplify the poetry of the jewelry, transforming these objects into true fragments of contemplation rather than mere consumption. Karl's experience in Japan, during his residency at Villa Kujoyama, profoundly influenced his approach. There, he discovered the philosophy of wabi-sabi, which celebrates imperfections, and enriched his skills by drawing inspiration from ancestral Japanese techniques. Since then, his studio, located at the Cité Artisanale de la Villa du Lavoir in Paris, has also served as a space for encounters and collaborations with artists and craftspeople from around the world. Her jewelry, made from often forgotten materials such as damask steel or brick, questions the relationship to matter and invites us to rethink the codes of contemporary jewelry. Winner of numerous prestigious awards, including the Liliane Bettencourt Prize for the Intelligence of the Hand, Karl Mazlo's work has been exhibited in institutions such as the Grand Palais, the Musée de la Chasse et de la Nature, and the Tokyo Metropolitan Museum.
His travels around the world continue to inspire his creations, which resonate with forgotten skills and sustainable materials.
