About the Item
Spessartite garnet, also called a Mandarin Garnet, ring by the jewelry master Michael Zobel. The shank is a gold sleeve that fits nearly 1.1/2 inches of the finger. The center bezel set natural Spessartite garnet weighs an estimated 10.19 cts. It displays a vivid orange/red orange color. The stone is quite bright and "eye clean" that is, only the slight inclusions can be seen under 10x power magnification. It is accented with 24 natural fancy diamonds of a yellow/orangey brown (Cognac) color. These small brilliant cut diamonds weigh an estimated .24 cts.
The ring is a size 6 3/4 and can be resized. It is signed with Zobel in script and 750 for 18K. The ring weighs 16.91 grams.
Michael Zobel has an international following for his very unusual pieces of jewelry that he calls "small works of art". His pieces are sought after and in many major jewelry collections of celebrities and fashion leaders. He excels in modernist unique designs working in different metals with fine stones.
Spessartite Garnet was first discovered in Bavaria, Germany. Today it is found in Namibia, Nigeria Mozambique and Madagascar.
Spessartite garnets are quite rare today, especially fine examples displaying the bright vivid orange and reddish- orange. This stone displays a vivid deep orange color. Also, stones in excess of 5 cts. are rare.
Spessartite garnets are a hard and brilliant stone and devotees are frequently collectors of the gem in all forms of jewelry.
