The company was started in 1993, and its team of artisans draws on centuries of Russian jewelry traditions from such firms as Fabergé and Bolin, while involving cutting-edge contemporary techniques. For example, its proprietary diamond-setting technology involves setting a diamond at just two points. Taking over a year to make, the piece contains an enormous nautilus shell with 500,000 sapphires, 20,000 diamonds and one kilogram of gold. A hummingbird hovering over an orchid completes the sculpture, which also includes a manually wound clock housed within its base.
