Orloff of Denmark: Grand Temple of Angkor, 10.84 carat, Natural Blue Zircon Sculpture Ring.
Angkor Wat is the largest religious structure in the world and is located in the ancient city of Angkor, the capital of the once mighty Khmer Empire.
The Angkor area harbors over 1000 temples which are all stunning feats of ancient architectural prowess, however, the one who takes the number one spot is the great Angkor Wat. Built by the Hindu King Suryavarman II.
The temple is said to be dedicated to the Hindu gods Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva and features five towers which represent the peaks of Mount Meru, which according to Hindu mythology is said to be the domicile of the divine beings.
However, due to the varying beliefs of the monarchs who reigned after King Suryavarman II, a multitude of Buddhist symbols can be found all over the temple, making Angkor Wat a congregation point for both Hindu and Buddhist Monastics.
This piece features an octagon-cut 10.84 carat Cambodian Blue Zircon. Along with five 1mm, VS1 Diamonds on each shoulder.
The face of the temple has been meticulously carved by hand in 95% pure platinum.
Natural Zircon, which is a mineral that forms naturally deep in the Earth's crust, unfortunately tends to gets mistaken with the diamond imitation 'CZ' or 'Cubic Zirconia', a man-made mineral, synthesized in a lab through the mixing of zirconium oxide powder and metals such as magnesium and calcium.
The Zircon is an utterly outstanding gem that can take up to several million years to form and survive countless geological events,
it doesn't deserve to be mistaken for a synthetic that can be manufactured in as little as 5 days.
