About the Item
An oval cameo carved out of sardonyx depicts an antique mythological female bust in profile. The cameo has been executed in the 1st half of the 18th century and mounted in 18K gold. The outer rim of the gold mount has been engraved to resemble a plaited braid. In the 19th century the mounted cameo has been secured onto a gentleman´s ring carved out of horn with the help of golden rivets.
