French O Roy Chalk Washington Capital Dome Gold Crest Multi Compartment Ring

About the Item

This incredible French 18k rose and yellow gold intaglio seal ring is truly a piece of history. On the face of this intaglio ring is a crest, hand engraved, with the Washington Capital Dome, also one of his planes flying over it. Under the is a banner is engraved the name O. Roy Chalk (written in reverse for use as his Seal), Above the crest, wings are carved. If you look very closely, you can see some residual wax inside the intaglio showing that he did use this as a seal. This front seal is made to open into a secret compartment. On the sides of this ring are movable rose gold bars. When in the open position, each contains as set of numbers (as shown in pictures displayed). I believe these numbers are the coordinates of one of his many business'. in Washington DC. But I'm not sure. Above and below each rose gold bar is a bezel set baguette shape blue sapphire. The French hallmarks and makers marks are located on the back of band and on the inside of the band. This ring is size 7 1/4 This ring weighs 24 grams O. Roy Chalk (June 7 1907-December 1, 1995) was a New York entrepreneur who owned real estate, airlines, bus companies, newspapers and a rail line that hauled bananas in central America. His diverse holdings included DC Transit, Trans Caribbean Airways, (Trans Caribbean Airways was a United States airline owned by O. Roy Chalk. Its hub was San Juan, Puerto Rico. Founded in 1945, it was acquired by American Airlines in 1971.[1] Its headquarters was located in Midtown Manhattan, New York City), the Houdon bust of Thomas Jefferson now at Monticello, the Chalk Emerald, and the New York Spanish-language newspapers El Diario de Nueva York and La Prensa, merging them into El Diario La Prensa.
