About the Item
Well executed, hallmarked 1989, Sheffield guild, modern platinum and gold signet ring, likely custom made for an individual with any of the following family names: Abingdon, Cantrell, Grindall, Grindal, Gwym, Jacobs, Mytton, or Teasdale.
Or perhaps this was custom made for someone with an interest in and knowledge of heraldry who simply liked this particular crest!
In heraldic terms, the crest is of an arm, in armour, embowed, proper in hand a sword by the blade, point downward, above a torse (or twisted wreath). The knight would have worn this symbol above his helmet during a tournament for identification. Arming swords would be held in one hand (for attack) while the knight would use his other hand to hold the shield.
