About the Item
This beautiful and entirely contemporary ring, probably made in the 1990's, showcases a flawless round Tahitian pearl -- black but with gorgeous mauve-y pink overtones.
Clever design makes this ring look like a circle that's been smooshed together and secured at each end with a sparkly band of platinum to create two loops, and the loops gird the pearl like little mittens, as if to say, "Here ya go! A perfect pearl for you!"
The pearl measures 10.5mm. We showed it to our pearl dealer, George Hajjar of Seven Seas Pearls (offices in Los Angeles and Japan) and he judged it a high quality untreated Tahitian pearl with black body color, pink overtones, excellent luster and thick nacre.
The six diamonds are earth-mined natural brilliant cuts, about 0.03 carats each, pavé-set in a row, on soldered platinum panels. The diamonds are good quality; we rate them G-H color and VS2 or better clarity.
Currently a size 7.5, this ring is resizable. If you would like us to resize the ring for you, please let us know your requirements; we may be able to include resizing at no (or a nominal) additional charge.
The inside of the band is stamped "18K." One edge below the pearl is additionally stamped "18K PT" plus an unknown maker's mark -- either "BRY" or "BAY."
The ring is most likely American and was probably made in the 1990s or slightly earlier.
Note that the dots you can see inside of the band are small scars from removing sizing balls. They're "innies," not "outies," so they can't be felt by the wearer. This ring, the pearl and the diamonds are all in excellent condition.
