An antique diamond, and yellow gold ring, comprising one old European cut diamond, in 18 karat yellow gold.
My favourite thing about this Victorian 18K Yellow Gold Diamond Ring, is the dazzling sparkle of the diamond. What’s yours? Perhaps the buttercup shaped setting? Or the chunky band?
This Victorian ring is set to the centre with a chunky old European cut diamond. The diamond is bright, white, and sparkly, with good colour, and symmetrical cut. The diamond is held within a belcher setting, which raises the diamond aloft and allows plenty of light to filter through and aid sparkle. The arrangement of the belcher setting creates a buttercup-like setting. The broad shoulders of the ring lead to a plain, polished band of yellow gold. The setting is thought to be named as such after a famous boxer who wore such rings to hold his scarf in place. The ring is in great condition, and is a well-made, quality piece. Wear and tear acquiescent with age.
The ring measures 7mm long, rises 3.6mm off the hand, and the band measures 2.4mm wide at the back.
