A cocktail ring with large precious peridot.
This is a modernist cocktail ring created with classic patterns, back in the late 1970's. The ring has been crafted in America as a large solitaire in solid yellow gold of 18 karats with high polished finish. It is embellished on top with an outstanding precious intense green peridot of 31.56 carats.

Peridot is a semi-precious gemstone that's valued for its green color and long history. It's the birthstone for August. Peridot is usually green, but its shade can vary from yellow to olive to brownish-green. The color depends on the amount of iron in the stone. Pure green peridot is rare and valuable. The ancient Egyptians mined peridot on the island of Zabargad in the Red Sea. The ancient Romans called peridot the "evening emerald" because it shines brightly under candlelight. In Hawaii, peridot was once thought to symbolize the tears of Pele, the volcano goddess. Fine quality peridot that's pure green and free of visible inclusions is rare and valuable.
