About the Item
This is one substantial -and substantially cool- jadeite jade ring from the middle of the last century (circa 1960s). This Mod and modern, natural and untreated Burmese jadeite ring is incredibly impressive and the very definition of "one-of-a-kind."
Measuring 22mm x 16mm x 4.64mm, this large and highly translucent jade is a beautiful sage green. It is securely bezel-set within the 14K yellow gold hand-made mounting. And what a mounting it is! It has a Florentine finish and each side is adorned with six concave circles, Unlike the rest of the band which has a soft textured surface, these circles are highly polished little mirrors that reflect and distort your surroundings.
This spectacular one-of-a-kind ring is currently a size 9 but your jeweler could resize it without issue because the Florentine finish does not go all the way around; the rear of the shank is left smooth for exactly this reason. Nice detail, that. It weighs 14.9 grams, so it's pleasingly weighty.
It's important to note here that the unique design of this ring required that it be fabricated from 14K gold instead of 18K. Had it been executed in 18K gold, those polished circles would now be matt-finish with tiny scratches and the Florentine finish would certainly have "bald spots." Instead, the ring looks as pristine as the day it was created.
Unfortunately, the artist did not leave a hallmark so we'll never know who created it. It is marked 14K.
This ring ships with a certificate from Stone Group Labs stating that the jade is untreated jadeite from Burma (Myanmar).
