About the Item
This 14K white gold star sapphire ring was created in the 1950s or early 1960s and apparently locked away in a safe until I came along. The hand-etched Florentine finish is not only impeccably executed by the jeweler who created this fine ring, but there are no signs of wear, not even in the back. The ring shows no signs of wear. Originally created for a man, it could be worn by anyone.
The natural sapphire measures 10.40mm x 8.46mm and weighs approximately 6 carats. The stone has high clarity and displays a strong six-ray star, which is centered when viewed beneath an overhead light source but slides around as you move the light. The star is far more defined in person than in pictures: I'm sorry. The body color of the gem is a light violetish-blue. When there is no bright light source, the sapphire displays a pleasing luminous quality, akin to moonstone.
A crisp row of four diamonds -totaling approximately .15 carats- adds a dash of spark to just one side of the asymmetrical ring.
Crafted in 14K white gold, and currently a size 10, this ring could be resized by your local jeweler if need be.
