About the Item

A wonderful tumbler or cup by Jocelyn Burton. In sterling silver with an applied figural cowrie shell, tapered sides and gilt interior. Jocelyn Burton was an enormously important English female silvermith and goldsmith. She executed numerous commissions to the Queen and was given the high honor of making the first strike on the first English piece of platinum in the London Assay Office in 1973. She had a storied career and was recognized with awards and accolades for her excellent work for roughly four decades. Simply an amazing piece of silversmithing!
