About the Item
Scottish silver is something we don't come across often, so this delightful George III tablespoon is a lovely addition to our silver cabinets. The simple spoon features crisp hallmarks for manufacture in Edinburgh, Scotland in 1769, the beginning of the reign of George III. The piece is also marked 'IW' for silversmith James Welsh who was known for making flatware during the mid 18th century. The spoon has an engraved cursive 'W' to the handle which is likely for the surname of the original owner. This lovely relic from the 18th century is in very good order for its age and other than expected surface abrasions from 250 years of use it remains extremely useable. A delightful addition to the Christmas table or a beautiful house warming gift for someone who appreciates beautiful things.
