About the Item

Crafted from sterling silver this tablespoon was made in Dublin during the reign of England's George III. The rear of the handle has a group of hallmarks allowing us to date manufacture to Dublin in 1786, however unfortunately the maker's mark is rubbed and illegible. Georgian silver of this period, especially flatware, unfortunately often has rubbed marks, so while we know when this piece was made, we don't know by whom. To the rear of the handle there is a crest of dragon finely engraved, likely for the family of the original owner of the piece. The spoon is in lovely antique condition and other than the expected surface abrasions it shows little signs of wear. A delightful piece of 18th century silver which would be a welcome addition to a Christmas table or could be given as a housewarming gift for someone who loves beautiful things. Marked - Dublin, Ireland hallmarks for 1786 along with a rubbed maker's mark Measures - 20.5cm L Total weight of piece - 67.5 grams
