About the Item
This Antique Portuguese Sterling Silver Water Pitcher is a striking example of early 20th-century craftsmanship, combining artistic refinement with historical authenticity. Meticulously handcrafted in 833 silver, the pitcher is richly adorned with a raised decorative band depicting grapevines, leaves, and clusters of grapes, a classic motif in Portuguese silverware symbolizing abundance and celebration.
The smooth handle offers visual balance and understated elegance, highlighting the intricate repoussé work that defines the body of the piece. It bears the Porto hallmark featuring the Boar’s body (1887–1937) and the maker’s mark of Porto silversmith José Gil Y Poy (1917–1969), confirming both origin and period.
A fine collectible example of Portuguese decorative silver, this pitcher reflects the grace and mastery of traditional silversmithing.
