About the Item

There is something very charming about this footed oval bowl and matched sterling serving spoon by Lebolt and Company. The two pieces are hand wrought from sterling silver with the bowl sitting atop of four small silver spheres, while the spoon is slightly curved to allow the piece to sit nicely within the bowl. To one side of the bowl and the end of the spoon there is a matched monogram 'ETZ' in a very 'Arts and Crafts' or 'early modernist' font helping us also to date the piece to circa 1915. Lebolt and Co of Chicago were both jewellers and silversmiths, with their silver department a close rival of the Kalo Shop also of Chicago. Both the Kalo Shop and Lebolt were known for their contemporary designs and hand-wrought wares during the early 20th Century, and this bowl with matched serving spoon are an example of how well their designs stood well into the 21st Century. Marked - 'HANDMADE' 'LEBOLT' 'HANDBEATEN' 'STERLING' '481' Measures - 16.5cm W x 8.5cm H (Bowl) Total weight of pair - 253.5 grams (together)
